Now, we were hoping for Bollywood Billions to live up to the Indian film industry’s reputation for over-the-top action set pieces and larger-than-life scenes. But Swintt seems to have opted for a much simpler set of features, delivering your run-of-the-mill wilds, scatters, and free spins.
Sure, wilds can land in stacked varieties, and you unlock a win multiplier during the free spins bonus, but we were expecting something innovative and extravagant to capture the essence of Bollywood. The result is a functional, but somewhat underwhelming list of generic video slot features that we’ve already seen countless times before.
Wild symbols – In keeping in line with Bollywood Billions’ film set theme, the wild symbol is represented by the fictional show’s main character. Wilds don’t payout on their own, but they do step in for missing pay symbols that could form part of a winning combination. They landed often enough for us, even if they are limited to landing exclusively on reels two and four. Wilds even get a boost during the free spins bonus, but more on that below.
Scatter symbols – The golden elephant scatter symbols unlock the way to free spins. But they’re also the slot’s highest-paying symbol, with a maximum payout of 12,500 for five identical symbols. Now, we never managed to get that kind of payout, but we did trigger free spins with four symbols a couple of times, which gave us a 500x win. Triggering free spins with 3, 4 or 5 scatters gives you 7, 10 or 20 free spins respectively.
Free spins – Upon activating free spins, you’re given the choice of picking between three bonus options. The first gives you an additional eight free spins and adds two wild symbols to your reels. The second gives you an additional eight wild symbols that can land in stacks. The final option gives you two wild symbols and adds in win multipliers of up to 8x. We mostly played with the second and third options and found them equally useful. We got our biggest win through a stacked wild win which gave us ₹450,000.
Bollywood Billions didn’t quite live up to its expectations, mostly because of a lack of innovative and exciting features. We were hoping for a slot that could capture the colour, energy, and action that Bollywood is famous for, but instead, we got a pretty basic-looking game with a couple of generic mechanics thrown in.
The free spins with its three choices might just be this slot’s saving grace. So, if you’re looking for a bombastic video slot with an exciting set of features, then you’d best be looking elsewhere.
TopSpin’s Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi is inspired by the famous Indian game and manages to adapt plenty of the original game’s aspects to the reels. We were particularly impressed by the provider’s creativity in finding ways to have wilds, free spins, gamble features and collect features representing elements from Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi. Unfortunately, the game is let down by a rather low maximum win of 4,000x, although it’s still higher than the 1,729 that Bollywood Billions has to offer.
If you’re hoping for a game with a more advanced set of mechanics, you’ll want to try out PG Soft’s Ganesha Fortune which comes with dynamic Megaways reels.
